SEK Business Innovation Summit
Independence Community College’s Successful Entrepreneur Program and the Independence Business Resource Center will co-sponsor the first SEK Business Innovation Summit on September 22nd and 23rd. The summit will showcase Southeast Kansas as a center for key industry clusters and innovation capacity. The summit is being hosted by Independence Community College at ICC West Campus.
The event is a springboard for Southeast Kansas to be a part of moving our region forward economically, socially and culturally. According to Jim Correll, Successful Entrepreneur Program facilitator and business coach, “We hope this inaugural event will act as a platform from which we can reach out as the advocates for innovation in this region. There have been many great innovations in Southeast Kansas, not only among the business community but by community and government groups as well.”
This first annual summit will be a combination of full-group and break-out sessions designed to share innovative ideas with fellow business, civic and governmental organization leaders. The highlight of the event will be the keynote address and workshops led by world renowned innovator Praveen Gupta. The 2-day summit will include networking opportunities with up to 200 regional business, community and government leaders, multiple presentations and sessions from which attendees can choose.
“We want to celebrate past and current innovations and spawn creativity for new innovations and collaborations among the region’s business, community, education and government organizations. Now, more than ever, we must create cultures in all of our organizations that foster and create innovative solutions in order to survive and thrive in the future,” Correll said.
Although more speakers will be announced, topics to be discussed at the summit will include… Innovation for Growth and Jobs, Stat Free Six-Sigma, Age to Age Learning, Character Culture, Sparking Creativity Among Employees, Wellness Programs Reducing Insurance Cost, Innovate to the Fullest and then Protect with Patents, Trade Marks, and Copyrights, and Lessons Learned from Building the World’s Largest Online Leviton Store.
